Work For a Purpose – Not Just For Money

By Wes Annac, Openhearted Rebellion

If you do the work, then your path will become clear. You just have to start and then keep going, even if you’re unsure of where it will lead. Maybe you’ll crash and burn – or maybe you’ll soar. No matter where you end up, it is worth pursuing a life you will love.

In a society so obsessed with success, consider that the only path to said success – as well as true personal fulfillment – is in the work. The work is the path, and vice versa. Focus not on results; instead, do the best work you can and make sure to have fun along the way.

Most of the time, it will feel more like work than play. You will be discouraged often. But life is short, and you owe it to yourself to pursue a path that is uniquely yours. That path might not make you all the money in the world, but at the end of the day, you can confidently say you lived on your own terms.

Whatever you’re passionate about, go after it with your whole heart. If you can avoid that all-too familiar and comfortable apathy, you’ll find that you’re capable of so much more. You could become incredibly skilled at that thing you love if you care enough about yourself to push yourself. You should keep healthy boundaries, such as taking time to rest, but you must also vigorously pursue what you love to make it a reality.

Believe you are capable and align your life with your purpose. Give up what doesn’t serve your pursuit of this purpose, and to the greatest extent posssible, live for your goals. Why try it at all if you don’t give it your absolute best?
